Announces Industry's First Single-chip UMTS/EDGE Baseband Processor
PrairieComm, Inc., a principle developer and supplier of 3G baseband processors and
software, today announced the availability of the PCI5210, the industry's first
single-chip UMTS/EDGE/GSM/GPRS baseband processor solution. Created with PrairieComm's
market-leading UMTS and EDGE technologies, the PCI5210 allows wireless terminal
manufacturers to design products from a single platform for 3G markets in five continents.
Production samples of the PCI5210 baseband processor and accompanying protocol stack
software are currently available and more information will be on hand at the 3GSM World

HyWire Ltd. Demonstrates New RLDRAM II
Development Board
HyWire Ltd. today announced it will demonstrate its new HySee RLDRAM(TM) II- based
development board at DesignCon 2004, February 2-5 in the Santa Clara Convention Center at
Micron Technology's booth 924. The HySee board is a complete development environment for
designs using high-performance RLDRAM II devices. It's composed of a Xilinx Virtex-II 8000
and two Virtex-II 2000 FPGAs to emulate an RLDRAM II-based search engine and its
interfaces. This demonstration also includes HyWire's HyVal tester board that interfaces
to the HySee board to allow users to test and exercise a system design. The combination of
the two boards provides users the ability to design and test RLDRAM II-based systems for

Introduces Industry's First UART With Real Time Data Error Detection and 256 Byte FIFO
SC28L202 offers High Speed, Low Power and Dual Channels Ideal for Portable and
Handheld Applications. To support the ever-increasing speed and complexity in today's
designs, Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG) (AEX:PHI) today announced the industry's
first Universal Asynchronous Receiver/Transmitter (UART) with 256 Byte FIFO and real time
error detection. The SC28L202, the newest member of the Philips IMPACT line of
communication devices, is a 2-channel UART operating at high speed with low power
consumption -- operating at both 3V and 5V over the -40 to +85 C degree temperature range.
These features make the SC28L202 ideal for use in portable and handheld applications where
power requirements are a key consideration. Utilizing all of the features of the IMPACT
line UARTs, the SC28L202 is also suitable for use in telecom/networking, mobile
communication/computing, consumer, industrial control, medical and security applications.

The TDA15500 Provides Highly Integrated and Cost-Effective Support for the
Low-End LCD Global Television Market. Royal Philips Electronics (NYSE:PHG)(AEX:PHI) today
announced the launch of its TDA15500 single chip solution for low-end LCD (Liquid Crystal
Display) TV sets. The TDA15500 is the first single system chip solution that provides
manufacturers of LCD TV sets features such as video decoding, picture improvement,
de-interlacing and scaling, sound entertainment and a microcontroller with teletext. The
technology behind the TDA15500 is derived from Philips' Ultimate-One-Chip (UOC) third
generation solution and Philips' scaler expertise. The high integration level of the
single chip and the solution's resulting lower cost enable manufacturers, with the help of
a reference design, to compete effectively and offer affordable LCD television sets to the
